Acne medicated cream companies continuously make new chemical ties together to battle oily secretions and balance out hormones that secrete them to begin with. The one chemical that never changes is the fatty acids used.
Scientists use polyunsaturated fatty acids (aptly named vegetable oil) in their production of acne cream, a requirement from the health board. In the past, saturated fatty acids were used due to high oxygen resistance which is needed to keep skin application oil free.
Today, vegetable oil is added with other chemicals to get the same effect but not as reliable as drying is too quick and reapplying is too frequent, ergo buy more. To learn about which fat is better, there is the history involved in both health of the face and the heart.
Since the 1930s, scientists knew that its not how much fat you eat, it’s what fats you eat. Biased promotion from both sides of the fatty acid gave people a hard decision to make.
Saturated fats found in beef and eggs were normal but became enemy number one when heart diseases and weight-related sickness started occurring more often.
In the 1950s, they invented unsaturated fats going on to polyunsaturated fats. While reducing the fat content, the other chemicals inside damage the cell’s growth and grows slower, or stops and dies.
The debate for which fat is best for cell growth and good body development is still going on and each have the pros and cons in relation to taking care of acne problems and creams that have either, as well as natural remedies of saturated fats.
Saturated fats are pure fatty acids with all need nutrients for body hormones but take in too much and hormones go out of balance and overproduce the oils that house bacteria that form acne. However, some natural oils found in the creams require saturated fats so if need, take it to a small amount.
Unsaturated fatty acids can help reduce inflamed skin keeps the skin healthy as well as hair and nails. However, some healthy foods with this healthy fat oil can prove to be allergic and even a healthy diet can not work for all. Each person has to deal with the acne-food relationship in his or her way.
Unsaturated fatty acid will be in most acne medication creams but it can’t hurt to try some home remedies. Virgin Coconut Oil, with some content of saturated fatty acid, also contains ‘good bacteria’ that kills the bacteria that forms acne.
The fat wars go on until someone finds a non-fatty fatty acid which will not be long now as coconut oil’s ‘good bacteria’ is in the works to be added to medicated cream.
