For serious acne breakout cases, laser treatment is available to kill bacteria deep under the skin or provoke skin cells to produce faster. Laser treatment can also help in acne scarring caused by poor skin care and those with pimple-popping tendencies!
A summary of Acne Laser Treatment has been introduced and one particular treatment widely used is the blue – red laser treatment which is the first choice in laser treatment therapy.
The treatment is called the Blue Light PhotoDynamic Therapy. The therapy works like other acne creams but rather than just kill, it also manipulates and activates parts of the cell. Genius!
The blue laser light works by killing the P. acne bacteria that causes acne breakouts. The light kills the ones deep inside as well as the ones closer to the outer skin. It basically activates a ‘self-destruct’ system in the P. acne cell and destroys itself. There is no ultraviolet light involved which caused some skin scarring in the past, so it is safe.
Blue laser light is sometimes mixed with red so the light may be violet during treatments. Red light prevents inflamed skin which happens during intense laser treatment. It also increases healing time and makes collagen tighten beneath the skin so wrinkles and blemishes will not form.
However, P. acne can grow quickly after a while so you have to continue on different sessions to get good results. Doctors or dermatologists will often span the schedules between two to four weeks.
The process of a visit is really simple. You simply sit down with specific goggles in front of the laser light source which is either directed on one area or a wide area, depending on the condition. The doctor will decide how long you need to stay (15 minutes to half an hour) and if targeted treatment is needed which can be done with a wand-like device for better aim.
Sometimes, a prescribed skin cream to lower inflammation is given during or after the treatment. Side effects may include skin color change (white or reddened), minor swelling and dried skin. This will go away after a few more treatments but consult a doctor if it does not stop as your skin may be too sensitive to go on.
If all is well, your acne breakouts will lessen and white heads and large pimples will diminish with new smoother skin growing to remove scarring.
Safety is of course the number one concern with this treatment which is why there have been updates to lower the intensity of light laser. Doctors will sometimes prescribe the hand-held blue light laser wands for use at home (approved by FDA) such as those from Baby Quasar.
Users have posted their opinions on blue laser light treatment with varied results. Some love it and others warn strongly against it use. Everyone is different so the most important thing is to find a good and experienced doctor. Plus this treatment can be expensive and require repeated visits.
Make sure you try all options of dealing with acne before laser treatment as the results may be less than its worth if a simple cream could have done the trick. This is a treatment for those that have tried various other options already. See some of these on this website… Good luck guys!
