Acne bumps and scars can only come with skin that turns bright or dark red which can be either dry or irritating. The real reason is that blood flow is increase so more white blood cells reach the bacteria-filled area to kill the acne bacteria, but that is not enough.
Inflamed (reddened) skin is also caused by outside factors especially when you apply any makeup or irritating soaps and lotions on your face which will only make it worse. Here are a few tips to reduce acne redness using basic treatments and non-standard treatments that work too.
The Usual Chemicals
To start with, trying out suggested creams by doctors or dermatologists will be the first choice to reduce acne redness. Anything with Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic acid can both kill the bacteria that cause acne and the redness. However, they may dry out the skin too quickly and you may need some moisturizer with it.
Consider a cream or lotion that provides both and that you are not allergic to any of the other natural plant ingredients.
Cortisone injections or creams are also helpful in decreasing reddened skin as they are not just for acne problems. You’ll feel a sting but it will clear up instantly.
Helpful Home Remedies
There has been some agreement that toothpaste is helpful or acne redness, especially when it surrounds a large pimple. Using a small amount of paste around the red area overnight can clear up the red after washing the next morning.
Toothpaste helps absorb the excess sebum oil faster. You can also try exfoliation masks to remove the dirt and dead skin cells as well which irritate the reddened skin.
Tomato Juice with warm water is not a common example of clearing up reddened skin but it does the trick if your skin is not that irritated. Avoid vinegar as it is too strong even with water. Apply the tomato mix for 15 minutes evenly around the face and wash off thoroughly.
Lemon Juice with some rose water makes a natural remedy to deal with acne redness as the Vitamin C content can heal your skin and grow more skin cells. Apply it like a toner and leave it on for 15 minutes and wash with warm water.
If you really want to be cheap about it, just put a little ice to cool down your face and drink some cold water. You may just be dehydrated.
Some products that may work
Clean & Clear products offer some toner that will decrease dried skin and lotions that will lower skin inflammation. Their products have affordable prices but try out what is available and comfortable to your skin.
Meladerm creams lighten the skin to temporarily hide the red to deal with later. Natural anti-acne creams from Acnezine can reduce the red mark as well.
Proactiv has set packages that deal with acne problems before and after which focuses on external appearance which includes a lotion to ease itchiness and red marks.
Don’t Touch
Above all, do not do anything irritate the skin further like scratching or popping pimples. Any action done will only make the skin permanently red and people will think you are angry or embarrassed all the time.
