BACTRIM

Bactrim – Bactrim is another strong antibiotic normally dealt with severe skin diseases but also used in acne treatment. Bactrim can quickly deal with a large range of bacteria on the outer skin and reduce inflammation.

It is a mix of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim and is given in tablet or thick liquid form. Bactrim normally deals with infections in ears or neck. It is available in pharmacy but you must get doctor’s instructions on how to use.

The dosage is important when taking bactrim for acne. The standard for Bactrim DS (double strength – the popular type sold in pharmacists) is one tablet every 12 hours which contains 160mg trimethoprim and 800mg sulfamethoxadole. Take with it with food to prevent stomach upset and reduce to one tablet when breakouts clear up.

Loss of appetite and nausea are some side effects in case of allergic reactions. Avoid this drug if you are pregnant, have a slow heart rate, have severe lung or kidney diseases. Avoid sun overexposure as your skin will be sensitive at this point.

Other side effects are widely found on the Internet.
