NexCare products – when you don’t mind hiding a common problem

JOHN ALEXANDER L. NICOLAS

Johnson and Johnson’s are well-known and you can’t see a health or beauty product without their name on the top. NexCare productsHowever, 3M is one competitive company that strives for the win and its Nexcare acne products give acne medication at affordable prices.

Nexcare does not promote the usual chemicals or cleaning method of acne clear up which goes with the ease of using and buying their products even at your basic supermarket.

NEXCARE Acne Dressing Pack

Nexcare Acne Dressing Pack uses spot treatment and packages their product in small circled ‘patches’ (think band-aids which ironically is their number one selling product). Its main action is absorption of oil to decrease acne bacteria growth and keep skin moisture free.

The steps are very clear to use. Take one patch and put on the acne spot. When the patch turns white, it has absorbed all the sebum oil it can. Like the mini tissues that absorb the red stuff when you first shave, it removes the excess oil and needs to be reapplied if there is a lot.

The dressing has a hydrocolloid system with chemicals readily reacting to any liquid source and absorbing it. The size depends on how much it can absorb and if the patch was just bought.

Another promoted ingredient is ethylene oxide which is strong disinfectant for bacteria and dirt particles. The strong disinfection is widely used in health centres when cleaning the skin for injections. The use in Nexcare helps kill the P. Acne problem.

The dressing pack is affordable but will not readily clear up acne as it has low doses of benzoyl peroxide and it focuses more on oil removal than bacteria killing. Additionally, the patches are ‘noticeable’ and best done in your own personal privacy at home.

While it is okay that you have acne problems like others, consider using the dressing pack if you have the time by yourself. Makeup and fragrant soap may decrease its absorbing power so avoid those. Wash and dry before using patches.

For cost concerns, packs come in 4-piece, 28, 36, and 54-piece packs.NexCare products

NEXCARE FACIAL CLEANSING CLOTH

This add-on product relieves some irritation when using other acne creams that are sensitive tothe skin.  The facial cleansing cloth also acts as a replacement for regular face towel and cotton swab.

The cloth has ‘micro-fibres’ that remove bacteria without the need for repeated rubbing. The only drawback is that your own facial cleanser is used it is only reusable after a few weeks. Drying and washing is possible but the cloth becomes thin afterwards.

This side product is best used if regular cotton towels are irritating and is not expensive so it is not extra cost with other acne products used.
