Acne Treatment – Zithromax: bacteria killer and the side effects
JOHN ALEXANDER L. NICOLAS
Erythromycin, Minocycline and Benzoyl Peroxide: long medical names but familiar to some. These are a few antibiotics in acne medication to clear up the P. Acne bacteria that grows the blackheads and pimples. A new stronger antibiotic is soon to be familiar in our heads but it will be the other uses and side effects that will be important.
Zithromax (medically called azithromycin) is an antibiotic similar to Erythromycin also used to treat some skin diseases. Traditionally, it is used for pharyngitis, tonsillitis, mild pulmonary (heart) disease and pneumonia. In short, Zithromax deals with harmful bacteria on the skin which is useful for severe acne of all ages, especially acne rosacea and nodular acne.
They are sold in ‘Z-Paks’ of six 250 / 500 mg tablets under the company Pfizer. It is important to see the doctor first to decide which dose is needed, which the standard is three times a week for ten weeks. Additionally, the doctor must check your health to see if you can handle the drug and not suffer any side effects.
Zithromax side effects may include swelling of the lips and neck and some skin reddening. Abdominal pain, nausea, headaches and diarrhoea may be felt because the liver cannot handle that amount of antibiotics at once. The doctor must know all side-effects to decide to continue or stop. It will not be hard to do so.
As mentioned, Zithromax is similar to Erythromycin so watch out its side effects as well, which can mean you are allergic and really need to stop.
Reviews have suggested that the drug works as long as instructions are followed and others needed basic add-ons like lotions and change in daily regimen to work.
Zithromax is a powerful tool against acne-causing bacteria but, like other medicines, it won’t work for everyone. Though you do have some ear infections and pneumonia symptoms, this will work for you and deal with acne on the side.
